Revenues from income, sales tax marked 12% increase in 2021 — ISTD

AMMAN — Revenues from income and sales taxes in 2021 totalled JD5.213 billion, compared with JD4.637 billion collected in 2020, marking an increase of 12 per cent, the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) announced on Tuesday.
In a statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, ISTD Director General Hussam Abu Ali said that the value of the sales tax in 2021 reached JD4.037 billion, up from JD3.534 billion in 2020, increasing by 14 per cent.
Meanwhile, revenues collected from the income tax in 2021 reached JD1.176 billion, up from JD1.103 billion in 2020, marking an increase of 7 per cent, Abu Ali added. He attributed the increase to the impact of resuming economic activities and growth, and tax reforms.
