AMMAN — A Royal Jordanian (RJ) flight on Saturday veered off the runway while landing at the Sulaymaniyah International Airport, in Iraqi Kurdistan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, quoted an Iraqi official source as saying.

The RJ plane, an Embraer 175 model, was coming from Amman when it veered off its course while landing at the Iraqi airport, with 30 passengers on board, who were evacuated with no injuries or damage, the source told Petra.

Sulaymaniyah International Airport Director Taher Abdullah said the deviation caused no damage and that all passengers are safe, stressing that the situation at the airport is normal.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, RJ confirmed that the incident took place, stressing that all passengers have arrived safely.

Another plane, the airline said, has been dispatched to carry passengers, while a precautionary check is conducted at the Sulaymaniyah airport to ensure the plane involved in the incident is safe to use.
