AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Monday received a phone call from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during which the two ministers followed up on their recent Washington talks pertaining to the dangerous conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories.
While reviewing efforts aimed at materialising de-escalation, Safadi stressed that the only way to stop escalation is through ending the aggression on the Gaza Strip and ceasing all illegal and provocative Israeli practices in the West Bank and Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Safadi highlighted the importance of the US role and the stances taken by the US administration in regard to respecting the historical status of Jerusalem and its holy sites, stopping forced displacement and construction of settlements, supporting the two-state solution, and standing with Palestinians' right to live under the same degree of security and safety enjoyed by Israelis.
Safadi also called for the immediate mobilisation of efforts in order to resolve the conflict on the basis of the two-state solution that comes in accordance with international law.
Both parties agreed on the need to stop the escalation and achieve sustainable peace, according to the statement.
