AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, joined by counterparts from some Arab and Islamic countries, will visit China on Sunday as part of a tour to other permanent member states of the UN Security Council.
The tour falls within efforts to push for an end to Israeli war on Gaza, a Foreign Ministry statement said.
The ministerial delegation was mandated by the Joint Arab Islamic Summit, which was held in the Saudi capital Riyadh last week, the statement said.
The ministry's spokesperson Sufian Qudah said on Saturday that the ministerial delegation’s tour to UN Security Council’s permanent member states aims at launching an international effort to halt the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
The Arab and Islamic top diplomats will also discuss the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people as a result of the Israeli war on the besieged strip, Qudah said in the statement.
“The delegation aims to expose the Israeli barbaric crimes against Palestinian civilians and the repeated attacks against civilian institutions, namely hospitals and places of worship. “
Besides Safadi, Qudah said that the delegation comprises foreign ministers Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria and Palestine and the secretary-generals of the Arab League and the Islamic Cooperation Organisation.
