Safadi’s talks with Romania’s Aurescu focus on bolstering bilateral relations

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi on Sunday met with Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu to discuss bolstering cooperation in the field of economy, investment, energy, agriculture, information technology and defence.
The two ministers reviewed regional and international developments of common interest, foremost of which are related to the Palestinian issue and the efforts aimed at launching “serious and effective” negotiations to resolve the conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Safadi lauded Romania’s firm stance towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace through the two-state solution.
Romania’s support has been manifested through aiding the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), he added.
They also agreed on exerting more efforts to resolve regional crises including the situation in Syria and more work to solve all these crises and achieve security and stability that paves the way for prosperity for all people, he noted.
On his first visit to the Kingdom, the Romanian foreign minister stressed the significance of Jordan’s stability to the security of the region.
He highlighted that Romania has been a “friend” of Jordan for 56 years.
On behalf of the Romanian government, Aurescu extended greetings on the Kingdom’s centennial, noting that it was working on joint projects to enhance trade exchange.
The Romanian foreign minister expressed Romania's support for the Jordanian efforts within the initiative of the Munich Group, which brings together the Kingdom, Egypt, France and Germany, aiming at achieving peace and finding a permanent and just solution to the Palestinian issue.
