Senate panel approves energy deals

AMMAN — The Senate’s Energy and Mineral Resources Committee on Sunday approved a temporary law ratifying an oil shale concession agreement between the government, represented by the Natural Resources Authority (NRA) and the Saudi Arabian Oil Shale Company as referred from the Lower House.
The panel also approved another temporary law ratifying an oil exploration agreement signed between the NRA and National Petroleum Company.
Also on Sunday, the Lower House’s Health and Environment Committee endorsed the 2001 Food Monitoring and Surveillance Law with some amendments.
