AMMAN — The Lower House Jordan-Mexico Parliamentary Friendship Committee, headed by MP Haitham Zayadin, on Tuesday discussed with Mexican Chargé d’Affaires Abel Abarca Ayala the enhancement of bilateral ties.

The formation of the committee to promote parliamentary partnership between the two countries came in compliance with His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives, Zayadin noted.

Members of the committee pointed to King Abdullah’s firm position on the Palestinian cause and the Hashemite Custodianship over Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The Mexican house of representatives also plans to form a Mexico-Jordan friendship association, the diplomat said. Abarca also expressed appreciation for the ties between Jordan and Mexico and called for their enhancement in service of the two countries’ interests, according to Petra.
