AMMAN — Labour Minister Yousef Shamali on Sunday met with Egyptian Ambassador to the Kingdom Sherif Kamel and discussed issues pertaining to Egyptian labour in Jordan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Shamali stressed that the distinguished historical relations between Jordan and Egypt will remain “a major guarantee and a solid foundation” that preserves the interests of the two countries and their people amid various circumstances.
He highlighted the ministry’s keenness to keep communication channels open to overcome any obstacles that Egyptian workers may face in Jordan, within the governing laws and frameworks.
He referred to the recent Cabinet decision to legalise and alleviate the conditions of non-Jordanian workers by simplifying procedures and reducing financial burdens on Jordanian employers and enhancing the conditions of non-Jordanian workers who work for them, especially workers of Egyptian nationality.
Ambassador Sherif Kamel praised the continuous cooperation and coordination between the Jordanian and Egyptian sides on various issues related to Egyptian labour in the Kingdom, in line with the directives of the two leaderships in both countries.
The ambassador expressed appreciation of the decision to legalise the conditions of employment in Jordan, noting that Egyptian workers who are committed to the regulations and instructions will benefit directly from it.
