Shbeeb, Biltaji discuss development of Hijaz Railway

AMMAN — Transport Minister Lina Shbeeb and Amman Mayor Aqel Biltaji on Monday discussed steps to develop the Hijaz Railway project to transport passengers from Mahatta to Queen Alia International Airport. Shbeeb and Biltaji stressed the importance of the project in serving people’s transport needs.
Shbeeb said the railway should not only be used for tourism purposes. Jordan Hijaz Railway Corporation Director General Salah Lozi said there are plans to develop railway services to connect cities such as Amman and Zarqa. He said the German government has provided 10 modern train carriages to Jordan that will be received in April.
