AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Shraideh on Wednesday shared updates related to the Kingdom's economic, administrative and political modernisation efforts with development partners.
During a meeting with ambassadors and representatives of donor countries and funding institutions, Shraideh reviewed comprehensive economic, administrative and political reform programmes which have been adopted as part of the Economic Modernisation Vision, the Public Sector Modernisation Roadmap and the Political Modernisation Process, according to a Planning Ministry Statement.
The minister called on Jordan's development partners, including donors and funding institutions, to continue supporting Jordan's endeavours in implementing economic and development reforms in various areas, and specifically projects addressing economic challenges.
He also said that the government has set an executive programme for the public sector reform roadmap for 2022-2025 by a ministerial committee head by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, which includes service, institutional, and legislative aspects.
The minister briefed the attendees on the primary reforms planned for the water sector, as well as updated them on the tenders of the National Water Carrier project, which include JD1,830 million in grants, investment and development loans.
He stressed the need to support this strategic project, as it is among the government's top priorities, and is considered one of the main pillars for national water security, especially in light of the economic challenges that the Kingdom faces due to the pandemic and the hosting of refugees.
The gathering commended the resilience of the Kingdom's economy and its efforts towards reform to achieve comprehensive growth, the statement said.
