AMMAN — Minister of Social Development Wajih Azaizeh on Tuesday ordered the closure of a care centre for people with disabilities and issued warnings to two other centres for “committing gross violations”.
One of the warned centres had been given a one-month grace period to transfer its beneficiaries from the current building, which poses threats to their health and safety, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Azaizeh, following several visits to similar centres run by the private sector in Amman, decided to form inspection teams to conduct unannounced visits. Ten centres received warnings in 2016, and three were warned in the first two months of 2017, Petra added.
