Societies, NGOs included in anti-money laundering, terrorism law

AMMAN —The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to include societies and non-profit organisations in the anti-money laundering and terrorism law, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The decision came according to the provisions of the law, Article G/13, which allows the Council of Ministers to include institutions or professions upon the recommendations of the National Committee for Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Funding, headed by the Central Bank of Jordan's governor.

It aims to regulate the work of societies and non-profit institutions in the Kingdom to prevent their use for illegal acts such as terrorism and money laundering. The measure also seeks to ensure that external funds are legitimately received and spent by the institutions and are approved by the concerned agencies.
