AMMAN — Spanish flamenco dancer Alba Heredia on Tuesday night performed in Amman, in the framework of the Spanish embassy's cultural programme, an embassy statement said.

She was accompanied by Roberto Peralta (dance), Amparo Heredia and Nael Salazar (voice) and Luis Renedo (guitar), in a show that witnessed the attendance of HRH Prince Hassan and HRH Princess Sarvath.

The audience that filled Al Hussein Cultural Centre welcomed the recital with enthusiasm, celebrating the various interventions with ovations and, when the tone of the show so required, keeping a respectful silence.

Throughout their performance, the artists presented a wide-ranging repertoire of flamenco styles, from the more festive and colorful — such as “alegrías” or “soleares porbulerías” — to the more meditative and austere such as “tarantos” and “soleares”, the statement read.

With the presence of this young artist from Granada, the embassy of Spain, in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes of Amman, continues a journey through the geography of flamenco art which, in recent years, has included Curro Piñana (from Cartagena), Tomasa "La Macanita" (Jerez) and Rocío Márquez (Huelva): artists of diverse geographical origins and of different characteristics, who share high quality artistic standards, the statement concluded.
