AMMAN — The Italian embassy in Amman and the Dante Alighieri Committee in Amman will host two plays by the Italian theatre company “Compagnia del Sole” at the end of this month.

One play, titled “Il codice del volo” is a  science-theatre play focused on the creation of Leonardo da Vinci’s flying machine, the other play, titled “L’oro della commedia italiana” is a lesson-performance following the history of Italian comedy, from Commedia dell’Arte to the Italian variety of the 20th century, according to a statement issued by the Italian embassy.

The two productions are directly supported by the Apulian Public Theatre Consortium as part of the international programme developed by the Italian region Puglia, which aims at fostering regional theatre, dance and music abroad, the statement said.

“Il codice del volo” (from Leonardo's studies, notes and drawings) will be played on Saturday, September 28, at 6pm at Haya Cultural Centre in Amman, the statement said, adding that the play was written and directed by Flavio Albanese in artistic collaboration with Marinella Anaclerio, and will be performed in Italian with English subtitles.

“L’oro della commedia italiana” will be played on Sunday, September 29, at 6pm at the Società Dante Alighieri in Amman, the statement said, adding that the play was also written by Flavio Albanese in artistic collaboration with Marinella Anaclerio, produced by Compagnia del Sole and performed in Italian.
