Statistics department to hire 800 for agricultural census

AMMAN — The Department of Statistics (DoS) will recruit 800 technicians, statisticians and agricultural specialists in addition to allocating JD4 million to meet the requirements of the agricultural census which will start in May 2017, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Wednesday.
DoS Director General Qasim Zu’bi said that the agricultural survey across Jordan will be carried out using the same technology and tablet computers that were used in the General Population and Housing Census in 2015.
He added that the department has finished the training of cadres to process the results by the end of this year. Zu’bi stressed the importance of the census, pointing out that the output will support future agricultural planning and facilitates researches and aid in investment and business decisions.
