Tawjihi first day goes smoothly — Thneibat

AMMAN — The first day of the Tawjihi 2014 summer session went smoothly on Saturday, according to Education Minister Mohammad Thneibat.
Some 101,605 students sat for the first test of the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination, which tested their English language skills.
Thneibat visited several examination halls to check on students, noting that the ministry’s operations’ room did not receive any complaints related to the exam.
A total of 126,773 students have registered to sit for the Tawjihi summer session, for which the ministry has tasked 13,000 teachers to supervise the exams and 18,566 to correct the papers.

The Ministry of Education plans to revert to the one-semester Tawjihi system rather than have students sit for exams in winter and summer sessions, the minister, Mohammad Thneibat, said Tuesday.
The General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) summer session concluded on Sunday with a “remarkable” decrease in violations, according to Education Ministry Spokesperson Walid Jallad.
The Ministry of Education on Saturday called on students who sat for the General Secondary Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) to "disregard" any sources that claim they will announce its results before they are officially issued by the ministry.
