Two dead, 12 injured in road accidents

AMMAN — Two people died and 12 were injured in road accidents in the Kingdom on Friday, the Civil Defence Department (CDD) said on Saturday.
A seven-year-old boy died when he was hit by a car in Bayader area, west Amman, a CDD officer told The Jordan Times, adding that the boy was taken by a CDD rescue team to Al Hussein Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The CDD officer, who requested to remain unnamed, said that another road accident resulted in the death of one man and the injury of another.
The accident occurred in Azraq area, where a cargo truck with Saudi Arabian licence plates collided with a pickup truck, the CDD officer said, describing the condition of the injured man as fair.
“Both the dead and injured persons are Jordanians who were in the pick-up truck,” the officer noted.
In another accident, a car and a minibus collided in Ghor Al Safi area, in the Jordan Valley, injuring six people. The injured were taken to Safi Public Hospital and listed in fair condition.
Five other people were also injured on Friday when a vehicle overturned on Amman-Jerash Highway, near Qabateia gas station. The injured were taken to Jerash Governorate Hospital and were listed in fair condition.
CDD rescue teams and firefighters dealt with 204 various accidents and 439 health cases on Friday, which resulted in 74 injuries, according to the official.
