AMMAN — Two people died on Saturday after fatally shooting each other during a brawl on the Desert Road near Jafer in Maan, police said on Sunday.
“The brawl was the result of previous disputes between the two victims,” Public Security Department (PSD) Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi told The Jordan Times.
It is not known what started the fight between the two men, who were from Aqaba, Sartawi said, adding that they were both buried on Sunday.
Also on Sunday, a man died after a fight near a farm in Irbid’s Northern Jordan Valley district, according to the PSD spokesperson.
Two others were injured in the fight, including an Egyptian guard who works at the farm, Sartawi said, adding that they were both in fair condition.
Local media outlets reported that the brawl started when the guard tried to stop three passersby who picked figs from the farm.
The guard stabbed one of them, who succumbed to his wounds upon arrival at a nearby hospital.
Separately, police were investigating the death of a man in his 20s who was found hanged by a rope in Kufor Yuba in eastern Irbid, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Irbid PSD Director Brig. Gen. Amjad Khreisat told Petra that the prosecutor, and crime lab and forensic medicine personnel examined the area before transferring the body to the forensic medicine department.
An investigation has been opened, Khreisat added.
