UJ, Norwegian embassy plan for ‘fruitful’ academic exchanges

AMMAN — University of Jordan (UJ) President Nathir Obeidat on Sunday met with Norway’s Ambassador to Jordan Espen Lindback and an accompanying delegation to discuss cooperation in the academic, scientific and cultural fields, according to a UJ statement.
During the meeting, Obeidat expressed his appreciation for Norway’s support to vital sectors in Jordan, including the health and renewable energy sectors.
Lindback affirmed “the deep-rooted” ties between the countries and stressed the importance of the King and Queen of Norway's visit to Jordan last year.
He expressed keenness to cooperate with UJ in all possible fields.
The meeting was attended by the Vice President for International Affairs and Director of the Centre for Strategic Studies Zaid Eyadat and Director of the International Affairs Unit Hadeel Yaseen.
Eyadat said that UJ is looking forward to building “fruitful cooperation” with Norwegian universities through student, faculty and research exchanges, especially in Arabic language, environmental and climate change studies.
