AMMAN — The government’s fuel pricing committee on Saturday decided to raise the prices of unleaded 90 and 95 octane gasoline in December.
With the committee’s decision, the price of one litre of unleaded 90-octane gasoline will go up from JD0.765 in September to JD0.775 in December, according to an Energy Ministry statement.
The price per litre of unleaded 95-octane gasoline will increase to JD1.010 in December, compared with JD1.005 in November.
The prices of diesel and kerosene will stay unchanged for December at JD0.595, as well as the price of gas cylinders, which will remain at JD7.
Prices of oil derivatives in the local market are calculated based on international prices, in addition to other costs, including shipping and taxes.
The decision to not raise the price of gas cylinders is attributed to the government’s attempts to help mitigate burdens on low-income citizens in light of the current economic situation.
The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission on Saturday also decided to maintain the “differences in fuel prices” category on monthly electricity bills for December at 10 fils per kilowatt-hour (kWh), according to a commission statement.
The “differences in fuel prices” category excludes households whose monthly consumption does not exceed 300kWh.
