AMMAN — The Water Authority on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) meant to reduce water loss in the southern region.
The deal, in partnership with the Aqaba Water Company, aims to reduce water loss in the southern governorates: Karak, Tafileh, Maan and Aqaba.
The deal falls within a three-year project with JICA, according to a Water Ministry statement.
The project will identify work areas and train technical personnel in the Aqaba Water Company on the modern methods of water loss reduction, and will establish a training centre for personnel in the southern region equipped with necessary monitoring equipment.
Expressing appreciation for the continuous support of the Japanese government through JICA, the authority’s acting Secretary-General, Rami Abu Waraq, said that the project will improve the efficiency of water supply and enhance the level of services provided to citizens in the southern region.
