AMMAN— “United We Stand,” a six month partnership project between the Centre for Strategic Studies (CSS) at the University of Jordan in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Jordan, held its first webinars episode focusing on social cohesion and solidarity amongst different communities amid the coronavirus crisis and beyond.

The episode, which ran on Wednesday, was moderated by CSS Director Zaid Eyadat, with the goal of shedding light on social cohesion and solidarity among different communities.

“Social cooperation is not in Mars or anywhere else, but here in Jordan where the Jordanian community has proved to have a massive ability in dealing with a crisis,” Eyadat said.

Many policy papers and discussions aiming to identify coronavirus- related phenomena by hosting specialists and exports on various issues will be held, according to Eyadat.

“Social cohesion and cooperation will remain the primary focus throughout the series of webinars,” since it completes the governmental entities’ efforts, the CSS director said.

Coronavirus has inevitably entered all homes, whether as a virus, crisis, social or economic problem, he added.

UNDP country director Sara Ferrer Olivella said during the episode that this partnership is produced by like-minded institutions, gearing towards harnessing knowledge within the community and strengthening the fabric of social cohesion.

“The reason why we thought of this initiative is because there is a lot of misinformation, therefore in partnership with the CSS we could share with the people living in Jordan some of the key facts and trends that are at the forefront of this pandemic,” Olivella expressed.
