AMMAN — The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on Wednesday organised a two-day workshop to shed light on its projects that are being implemented in various areas among the jurisdiction of the Yarmouk Water Company (YWC) to improve performance of sewage water treatment stations.
During the workshop, attended by Water Minister Mohammad Najjar and GIZ officials, participants discussed achievements and challenges while implementing these projects that contributed to serving the company and citizens, according to a Water Ministry statement.
Najjar said that the YWC was established to be a counterpart for Miyahuna, stressing that there are big challenges related to water, sanitation and providing enough water amounts that can meet the increasing demand on water, in addition to the hosting of Syrian refugees that exacerbated pressure on water resources.
YWC Director Hussein Soub expressed appreciation for the German government’s support for various fields, mainly the water sector.
