AMMAN — Minister of Youth Mohammad Al Nabulsi and UN Resident Coordinator in Jordan Sheri Ritsema-Anderson on Tuesday discussed ways to enhance cooperation on youth issues.
The two sides discussed various issues facing young people, as well as ways to empower youth and enhance their participation in public life and decision-making processes, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Nabulsi reviewed the National Youth Strategy and its associated executive plan, as well as the ministry's programmes revolving around the political and economic empowerment of young people.
The minister also noted Jordan’s pioneering model in promoting a culture of volunteerism among young people, exemplified by the launch of the Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Volunteer Service, as well as other incentives for volunteer activities and youth-centred programmes to combat climate change.
Nabulsi also praised the support of the UN and its agencies, especially the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), for skills development programmes, and the development of youth spaces, such as innovation incubators.
