Fans flock to Karting Championship rounds

AMMAN — The first and second rounds of the Jordan Karting Championship (Rotax Max Challenge) concluded on Friday and Saturday respectively with drivers from Lebanon, Oman and Jordan at the Jordan Speed Centre.

Abdullah Dasouqi won the Micro Max category in both rounds, while Ameer Najjar won the Mini Max category followed by Yanal Hamadeh and Fadi Habaybeh in third place.

In the DD2 category: Mohammed Hilo took the first spot while the Junior category was won by Royd Hanoush.

The Senior category went to Oman’s Abdullah Rawahi.

The first round saw 11 drivers competing with Abdullah Dasouqi winning the first place of the Micro Max, while Yanal Hamadeh captured the Mini Max first place followed by Ameer Najjar and Fadi Habaibeh in the third place.

The Juniors category saw Abdullah Hamadeh taking the first place followed by Royd Hanoush and Ameer Najjar in the third spot.

Mohammed Hilo won the DD2 category while Omani drivers, Abdullah Rawahi and Sanad Rawahi, took the first and second places respectively in the Seniors category leaving Lebanon’s Kristof Rezq in third place.

Jordan Motorsports CEO Othman Naseef told The Jordan Times that it was an amazing two-day event.

“We were amazed by the number of fans who came at a late hour to watch the event as all events were held after Iftar. The first rounds were very challenging as everyone wanted to reserve a place the Rotax MAX Challenge, which is a prestigious motor sport race for karts, approved by and complies with the Commission Internationale de Karting/Federation Internationale de l’Automobile,” he said.

“We are also happy that drivers from other countries are taking part in our events which gives them a more global feel and unmatched challenge. The third and fourth rounds will be held next week so we expect more challenging spirit by all drivers,” he added.

The Rotax MAX Challenge follows strict regulations starting with the technical specifications of the engines in which only Rotax Max kart engines are allowed and there are three race classes: Junior MAX, with 20.4 hp (13–16 years of age), MAX, with 28.5 hp (15 years and older) and DD2, 2 speed shifter class with 32.6 hp (15 years and older).

 

The Jordan Karting Championship includes several categories: Micro Max (7-10 years), Mini Max (10-13 years), Junior Max (13-16 years), Senior Max (15 years and older), DD2 (15 years and older) and Masters Max (32 years and older.
