AMMAN — Jordanian Salameh Al Aqra won first place in the 19th Erste-Sparinvest Ötscher-Ultra-Marathon with an overall time of 5h56m19s in Austria on Sunday.

He was followed by UK’s Fallas Andrew (5h56m30s) and Hungary’s Németh Csaba (5h59m44). The ultra-marathon consists of two stages — 50km and 20km — over two days.

Aqra continued his domination in this cross-country race which he won in 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, while last year he was runner-up.

In the 50km relay race on Saturday, Moslem Haiel Abdullah and Hassan Khala from Jordan’s Gendarmerie team won the first place with 3h59m41s, followed by Németh Csaba and Tóth Csaba from Hungary’s BTBKE team (3h59m47s) and Limberger Veronika and Habersberger Flo from Austria’s LC Waldviertel team (4h24m59s).

Over 500 participants took part in this year’s event.
