Memories of the Balck Iris
Jun 08,2024 - Last updated at Jun 09,2024
Happiness fills the spirits, when thinking back to the childhood memories in Jordan. Recalling those days revives the hearts, enlightens the souls and they always prosper the minds flowing between the passing moments, sunshines, moonshines, weeks, months and years until the present day of time, when we lively live in love with the place, its nature and its people.
Jordan, a unique spring by its beauty, a celebrative summer by its glorious nights, a friendly autumn by its grace and a smiley winter by its snowy flair in times when we were so happy welcoming its visit; we used to wait for school to announce a holiday to storm out of the house and play all the creative snow games, and we used to walk in the empty streets from cars with endless great joy, singing the famous song of Fairuz : “Snow.. snow.. the world is raining snow..”.
Jordan.. the land, Jordan.. the society, Jordan.. the culture that embraced everybody in a welcome, and prospered with the presence of its people. Jordan is the sphere that belongs to its space and identity, and it embodies traditions and religions creating its rich cultural diversity by its people who built it and by the interactions with the near and far worlds, no matter how different they are, or their symbolisms, perspectives and concepts of life.
Jordan is a geographical, political, economic, social, artistic and literary vital connecting bind between societies of the Arab world, where they all enjoy unity of their deep wide horizons and enrich each other by that.
On the international level, Jordan presents an intercultural bridge, that opens the doors of communication to the West, the East and far more. From all around the world, people move in a dynamic motion from Jordan and back for the ambition of knowledge, history, civilisational flourish and to keep the continuity of development and achievements in warmth, hospitality, generosity, kindness and honor.
By it being a connecting bind and bridge bonding the worlds together, we arrived to Jordan from the occident, carrying our Arabic culture on the plane of the Royal Jordanian, full of enthusiasm and excitement to reach back home sweet home. We settled in Irbid city, named the “Bride of the North” where my grandfather lived. We enjoyed a young city that was growing in full energy. We studied in one of the great schools that was part of the Yarmouk University, having the best professors coming from all around the Arab world and the globe.
It was in the eighties, when we left Irbid and moved to the capital Amman. There, we continued our path of culture, science, social life and striving to learn and achieve our dreams from what the land of Nashama had of knowledge, science and productivity.
We graduated from school with the company of Abdul Halim Hafez’s famous song: “In the name of my heart and the best joys of success…” and we left on the board of the Royal Jordanian once again, carrying our Arabic roots representing the culture of the black iris, that gave us originality, ethics, pride, self-confidence, balanced openness, moderation of religion, dialogic cognition and the consciousness of humanity and freedom. This culture led us to always keep the willingness to come back home with the new knowledge and science we learn to contribute to our society with new dialectics that continue to build our mother culture in authenticity.
The Royal Jordanian is the heart of all those beautiful memories, and flying with the Royal Wings always draws a smile on our faces, that awakens all the experiences, emotions and ambitions, and it always re-energizes the attribute of genuineness, hominess and the gladness of knowing that there is always a lovely get-together after every goodbye.
