Muslims in Amman mark Eid Al Fitr over the weekend. The first day of the feast marking the end of Ramadan starts with performing the Eid prayer after dawn. Muslims in Jordan typically visit cemeteries during Eid to pray for deceased family members and then visit friends and relatives. Men present cash gifts known as eidiyeh to children and female relatives on the occasion, with the children usually spending the money on Eid toys. Guests are served the bitter, cardamom-flavoured Arabic coffee along with mamoul, a sweet cake stuffed with date paste, walnut or pistachio (Photos by Abdullah Ayoub and Hassan Tamimi)
