‘Impressive’
Feb 04,2016 - Last updated at Feb 04,2016
A headline in The Jordan Times on January 31 was most powerful, impressive and generous. It read: “Population stands at around 9.5 million, including 2.9 million guests.”
While the numbers are astonishing, I was especially pleased that you refer to 2.9 million as “guests”.
These non-Jordanians, many from Syria, surely are a burden on the economy, on the health and education systems of Jordan.
Most usually they are referred to as migrants or refugees, but you have the kindness and spirit of hospitality so common among Jordanians to call them guests.
Well done! Thank you for your kind gesture.
