143 food establishments closed for violations in first half of 2021 — JFDA

AMMAN — The control and inspection teams at the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) closed 143 food establishments, suspended 859 institutions, and issued warnings to 13,147 others for violating JFDA’s health requirements and standards during the first half of 2021.
In a press statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, on Saturday, JFDA Director General Nizar Mheidat said that the administration's teams carried out 20,755 inspections nationwide in the first six months of the year.
The JFDA, during the January-June period of 2021, destroyed 31,417 litres of liquid materials and 324,426 tonnes of solid food for not conforming to health requirements.
Mheidat added that the JFDA also dealt with 737 complaints related to food quality and safety submitted by citizens.
