32,700 individuals enroll in National Employment Programme

AMMAN — Labour Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud said on Tuesday that the number of individuals joining the workforce and signing employment contracts under the National Employment Programme with private sector entities has reached 32,700 across various domains and economic activities.
The registered private sector establishments in the programme have reached 2,237 as of December 20, The Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Zyoud said that the beneficiaries of the programme, particularly recipients of the National Aid Fund, amounted to 2,293 individuals, with almost half of them being female.
He added that through the programme, the manufacturing sector was the most active in employing job seekers; followed by the education sector, while the least demanded sectors were information and communications, professional, scientific and technical activities, construction, real estate activities, agriculture, forestry and fishing.
Zyoud highlighted that 43 per cent of the registered job seekers in the programme hold a bachelor's degrees.
Zyoud added that the programme contributes with an added JD130 to the each worker’s salary for 6 months, in addition to a JD10 contribution to the worker's social security and JD10 as a transportation allowance.
