AMMAN — Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) President Khalil Hajj Tawfiq on Wednesday highlighted the need to boost Jordanian-Maltese economic and investment relations by advancing cooperation between Jordanian business owners and their counterparts in Malta.
During a meeting with Permanent Secretary of Malta's Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Christopher Cutajar, Tawfiq noted that trade exchange between the two countries is "very modest and below ambitions", despite the available opportunities.
He called for increasing cooperation in the food industry, especially considering that 85 per cent of the Kingdom's food needs are imported.
Emphasising the "distinguished" political relations between both countries, Cutajar called to build commercial relations with Jordan to increase trade exchange.
Work is in progress, in cooperation with the Identity Malta Agency, to ease Jordanians access to the Maltese visa, he noted.
He also expressed his country's readiness to cooperate with Jordan to provide training courses in maritime law, noting that training programme will be held online next April and May for law firms and other institutions specialised in commercial cases.
