AMMAN — There is no plan to build a casino in Aqaba and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) has not received any proposal from investors to establish such a project, ASEZA Chief Commissioner Nayef Bakhit said on Sunday.
During a press conference, Bakhit stressed that remarks he made recently “were not meant to promote the establishment of a casino in the city or to disrespect religion or Jordanian customs”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The chief commissioner also noted that recruitment at the public facilities company affiliated with ASEZA has been temporarily suspended until it receives all objections from applicants and has reviewed them thoroughly, adding that 3,600 applicants met the terms and conditions of the required jobs to fill 12 vacancies.
