AMMAN — The Al Balqa Applied University (BAU) board of trustees has decided to reduce the fees of the international programme in the human medicine specialisation to $380, down from $500.
During a session led by board chairman Umayya Toukan and attended by BAU President Ahmad Ajlouni and members of the board, the board also decided to classify all refugee students in Jordan who wish to study in any programme at the university as if they were Jordanian students in the parallel programme, according to a BAU statement.
Toukan noted that the implementation of this policy is in the interest of the university for the policy’s ability to attract more students, especially considering the intense competition among universities in the region.
He added that the decision achieves the Royal vision, government policy and plans of the Ministry of Higher Education to make Jordan a hub for students from all countries of the world.
For his part, Ajlouni said that these decisions are in the interest of achieving the university’s strategic objectives in increasing the number of foreign students enrolled at BAU.
The BAU president also referred to the board’s decision to treat refugees in Jordan, regardless of nationality, as Jordanian students when they enrol at the parallel programme in any college or major.
Ajlouni pointed out that the implementation of these decisions will apply to new students from the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year.
