AMMAN — The Building Bridges Association (BBA) concluded on Monday a specialised training course on “feminist research methodology” as part of the third phase of the pan-Arab project, “Feminist Visions: Theory and Reality in the Arab World”.
The course, which was funded by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, covered a variety of topics, including feminist concepts and terminology, the development of feminist movements in the Arab world and feminist research principles and approaches, according to a BBA statement sent to The Jordan Times.
A number of case studies conducted by trainees were discussed during the course which saw the participation of 27 female and male participants working in the public sector and in civil society organisations involved in women rights and gender equality.
Leading feminist figures from Cairo University including Hoda Elsadda, professor of English and comparative literature, and Hala Kamal, professor of English literature and gender studies — co-founders of Egypt’s Women and Memory Forum — were the key speakers during the workshop, according to the statement.
