Cabinet decides to hold governorate, municipal council polls

AMMAN — The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to hold the elections of governorate and municipal councils as per the 2021 Local Administration Law.
The Council of Ministers, during a session chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh, also decided to hold the elections of the Greater Amman Municipality council, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Khasawneh sent a letter to the Independent Election Commission to take necessary measures to hold the elections. Meanwhile, the Cabinet approved an amended pension bylaw for members of the Jordan Engineers Association for 2021, which aims to sustain the pension fund of the syndicate and preserve its financial centre.
The Council of Ministers also approved the recommendations of the settlement and conciliation committee related to settling pending cases between 61 companies and taxpayers and the Income and Sales Tax Department.
