AMMAN — Tunisia's Ambassador to Jordan Khaled Al Suhaili and Zarqa Chamber of Commerce (ZCC) President Hussein Shreim on Tuesday discussed means of enhancing economic cooperation and overcoming obstacles facing trade exchange between the two countries.
Talks also went over establishing a partnership between the ZCC and the chamber of commerce in Tunisia and signing a memorandum of understanding on twinning the two chambers.
Suhaili highlighted that Tunisia's primary exports include clothing, semi-finished goods, textiles, agricultural products, mechanical goods, phosphate, chemicals, and electrical and automotive and aircraft parts.
The envoy also lauded the attractive investment climate in Zarqa, 22km northeast of Amman, as it is close to the borders with the neighbouring countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Emphasising the need of enhancing the two sides’ partnerships in the investment and tourism fields, Shreim said that trade exchange between the two countries in 2020 didn’t meet joint aspirations, noting that local exports to Tunisia totalled $5.98 million, while imports from the North African country reached $13.95 million.
