AMMAN — The 15th China Products Fair will kick off in Amman on September 16-18, in a step to strengthen the “deep-rooted” Jordanian-Chinese ties and to offer a link between traders from the Arab region and Chinese manufacturers, stakeholders announced on Monday.
During a press conference to announce the launch of the trade fair, stakeholders stressed the importance of the so called "MICE tourism" in Jordan, which refers meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions tourism, and called on the government to expand cooperation and facilitations to boost this sector.
“The fair will host more than 1,000 Chinese producers in this 15th version, which makes us proud to have been chosen to host such an important exhibition,” said Wael Kawar, managing partner of Petra Conferences and Exhibitions, the Jordanian organiser of the event.
Kawar stressed the “vital role” that the private sector plays in strengthening Jordan’s presence on the world business map, as such exhibitions contribute to attracting trade delegations from various countries, especially the MENA region, which come to be directly linked with the Chinese manufacturers without having to travel to China.
Fayez Al Fayez, president of the Jordanian-Chinese media affairs and columnist at Al Rai daily, said that Jordan has the potential to become a “hub” for MICE tourism given its geographical location, but he stressed the need for the country to first be “rehabilitated” and “enhanced”.
Kawar said that Jordan is "well prepared" for receiving tourists in terms of hotels and services, but lacks the availability of large-capacity conference halls or exhibition centres which can fit large numbers of visitors, especially in Amman.
He stressed the importance of facilitating and fastening the visa issuance for visiting delegations, which would highly contribute to boosting the MICE tourism sector and reviving Jordan’s economy.
The exhibition, which is organised by Meorient International Exhibition Co. Ltd in cooperation with Petra Conferences and Exhibitions Co., will take place at the Amman International Motor Show — Airport Road between September 16 and 18.
Kawar voiced his appreciation for the various government institutions' cooperation in organising the event including Jordan’s Tourism Board, Amman Chamber of Commerce and Amman’s Chamber of Industry, adding that the fair will be inaugurated under the patronage of Prime Minister Omar Razzaz.
