AMMAN — Deputising for Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, Minister of Industry and Trade Tareq Hammouri on Sunday inaugurated the China Products Fair, which is organised at the Amman International Motor Show.
The largest showroom in the world for Chinese companies, the exhibition includes more than 450 major Chinese industrial companies that will provide traders, industrialists, suppliers, business owners and brokers with a wide variety of services to deal directly with manufacturers and exhibitors of various brands of machinery and accessories for local and Arab markets.
The three-day trade fair, the 15th to be held in Amman, is organised by Petra Conferences and Exhibitions Co. in cooperation with Meorient International Exhibition Co. Ltd., the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the opening ceremony, Hammouri said that the fair proves that Jordan is still on the map of stable economic attraction and the Kingdom's geographical location represents a hub for neighbouring Arab states.
The minister highlighted the government's support for the importance of the so called "MICE tourism" (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) in Jordan, as an opportunity to share expertise and keep pace with the latest developments in international industries.
The participation of major companies underlines the interest of a country like China in the Jordanian market, and provides an opportunity to benefit from the Chinese experience in the world's emerging markets, he pointed out.
Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Pan Weifang said that the participation of the large number of industrialists and exhibitors in the fair underscores the importance of the Jordanian market for Chinese companies, which allows Jordan to enjoy an outstanding level of trade exchanges in the Middle East.
The diplomat said that the various Chinese investments in the Kingdom constitute a "good and developed partnership" between the two countries.
