Culture minister urges enhancing values of social, humanitarian protection

AMMAN — Minister of Culture Basim Tweissi on Monday called for establishing a base for building and enhancing the values and concepts of social and humanitarian protection, especially in light of the current circumstances caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus.
During a signing ceremony for an agreement to support the ministry’s competitions, held in cooperation with the Plan International Foundation, Tweissi expressed the ministry’s keenness on coordinating with the Kingdom’s institutions to enrich the ministry’s programmes focusing on social distancing, which have witnessed the participation of 60,000 people.
He also highlighted the importance of the agreement, which supports innovation and the optimal use of free time amid the current exceptional global circumstances.
Director of the Plan International office Muna Abbas emphasised the importance of culture during the current circumstances, pointing out that the foundation works with institutions concerned with youth, children and culture, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
