AMMAN — A 33-year-old man allegedly hanged and killed his 24-year-old wife at their Deir Alla home in Balqa Governorate on Wednesday, official sources said.
The suspect reportedly headed to the nearest police station and “and told officers on duty that he hung his wife with a rope”, a senior official source said.
Pathologists and investigators rushed to the scene and found the woman lying on the floor with a rope next to her, the source told The Jordan Times.
Pathologist Ahmad Hawarat, director of the Princess Iman Hospital, said he examined the victim’s body at the murder scene and found strangulation marks on her neck.
“I found a rope near the victim that I sent to the criminal lab for further analysis,” Hawarat told The Jordan Times, adding that he also took blood and tissue samples and sent them for analysis.
Criminal Court Prosecutor Mohammad Daradkeh headed to the Balqa Governorate police station late Wednesday evening to start questioning the suspect, a senior judicial source said.
“The motive behind the incident is still ambiguous and we are hopeful that Daradkeh’s interrogation of the suspect will reveal more information,” the judicial source told The Jordan Times.
