Development fund highlights ‘success in 2014’

IRBID — The Development and Employment Fund (DEF) “has succeeded in applying its 2014 strategy” aimed at increasing loans to JD31 million, DEF Director General Abdullah Freij said Wednesday.
At a meeting with members of the Jordan Society for Hearing and Speech in Irbid, Freij said Irbid’s share of DEF support in 2014 reached around JD4 million, which created 3,500 job opportunities in the governorate.
The meeting was held within the society’s celebration of opening its third centre, which is supported by DEF.

The Development and Employment Fund (DEF) has announced its JD31 million funding plan for 2014, which will provide more than 10,000 work opportunities, a 30 per cent increase compared to last year.
The number of cattle (sheep and goats) in Jordan went up by 12 per cent last year compared to 2013, reaching 3.5 million, according to a livestock census conducted by the Department of Statistics (DoS) for 2014.
The maintenance cost of public sector vehicles reached around JD9 million in 2014, according to official data, which showed that the maintenance and fuel bill for the fleet was JD39.1 million.
