AMMAN — Amendments to the draft political parties law of 2021 would protect partisan work from any interference or challenges, as well as criminalise anyone trying to undermine any party or party member, head of the House Legal Committee Abdulmunim Oddat said on Monday.
Oddat remarks were made during the committee's meeting to listen to the political parties' views related to the draft laws of the elections and political parties, in the presence of Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Mousa Maaitah and Minister of State for Legal Affairs Wafaa Bani Mustafa.
Approving the constitutional amendments and the elections and political parties laws is meant to provide the political parties a safe access to Parliament towards a gradual deepening of parliamentary governments, he said, noting that the political parties draft law included the allocation of 41 seats for parties in the next elections to gradually reach the allocation of 65 per cent of the seats.
