Energy minister, UAE delegation discuss cooperation in energy, mineral resources

AMMAN — Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh on Thursday and a delegation from the UAE National Defence College (NDC) discussed cooperation in the energy and mineral resources sectors.
Kharabsheh highlighted the substantial Emirati investment in Jordan's energy sector through memorandums of understanding and existing projects.
Kharabsheh also reiterated Jordan’s commitment to reducing reliance on fossil fuels, underscoring the country’s potential as an exporter of clean energy.
The minister highlighted Jordan’s strategic location benefitting from 310-330 days of sunshine per year, contributing to a notable 27 per cent share of electricity generation.
He also emphasised the Kingdom's commendable 60-day storage capacity for fuel derivatives.
The minister provided the delegation with insights into studies related to the energy sector's development and Jordan's initiatives to transition towards clean energy, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Brig. Ali Al Taneiji, head of the guest delegation, noted that the UAE NDC organises specialised visits to gain insights into the experiences of Arab countries, including Jordan, in various fields such as energy, tourism, information technology and communications.
