AMMAN — Members of the Lower House’s Foreign Affairs Committee on Monday held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi who acquainted MPs with the latest regional and international developments.
Khaldoun Hina MP, head of the panel, said that Safadi has acquainted the committee with the diplomatic efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah, the results of the recent visit to Norway and Germany, latest developments in the Palestinian cause, Jordanian-Syrian and Iraqi-Jordanian relations, as well as the ministry's efforts to ensure the Jordanians return from Ukraine, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In implementation of Royal directives, three aircraft, affiliated with the Royal Air Force, were dispatched to evacuate Jordanians who left Ukraine, Safadi said, highlighting the ministry’s plans to handle the situation with the developments in Ukraine.
A total of 70 Jordanians are still in Ukraine, he said, noting that the ministry was informed that they want to stay in Ukraine, adding “the ministry is following up on their conditions”.
Jordan’s firm stance calls for respecting international law, the charter of the United Nations, the principles of good neighbourliness, state sovereignty and territorial integrity, he said.
