AMMAN — A Lower House delegation, headed by MP Khaldoun Hina, head of the House’s Foreign Affairs Committee, on Thursday visited the Foreign Ministry to check on the efforts of the crisis cell at the ministry.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi received Hina and MP Shadi Freij, and acquainted them with the outset of the crisis and the ministry’s procedures and efforts, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the visit, Director of the Operations Administration and Consulate Affairs and spokesperson of the ministry Haitham Abul Foul briefed lawmakers on the procedures of the ministry in coordination with various Jordanian institutions in dealing with the crisis and its latest developments, in addition to sustaining communication with Jordanians to ensure their safety.

Abul Foul reviewed the efforts of embassies and diplomats present at Ukrainian border crossings with Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia, and the procedures and services that are provided to Jordanians who managed to arrive at borders.

The services included issuing necessary documents for their travel and providing buses and decent accommodations until their departure to the Kingdom, the spokesperson added.

He added that a total of 636 Jordanians have crossed Ukrainian borders, including 232 who travelled back to Jordan, noting that military evacuation planes that headed to Romania and Hungary following Royal directives have evacuated 140 Jordanians with their families and a number of Palestinians.

He also referred to the challenges facing Jordanians, stressing that the ministry is in constant communication with them to acquaint them with the latest developments related to the Ukrainian crisis.

Meanwhile, Hina expressed appreciation of the close efforts exerted by the ministry to follow up on Jordanians’ conditions in Ukraine and to offer them all necessary support and services.
