AMMAN — Jordan on Thursday condemned Papua New Guinea's decision to open an embassy in Jerusalem. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Sinan Majali said that opening the embassy in Jerusalem is a rejected and condemned step that represents a clear and blatant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, according to a Foreign Ministry statement. The spokesperson stressed that any actions or decisions attempting to alter the legal status quo of Jerusalem are invalid and lack legal effect. He also emphasised that reaching a just and comprehensive peace can only be achieved through the two-state solution, based on international legitimacy resolutions, that leads to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the pre-1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
