AMMAN — The government follow-up committee on human rights on Wednesday discussed the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) report and its recommendations. It confirmed the outcomes of a recent workshop, in Amman, organised by UPR, in cooperation with the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
Chaired by general coordinator Basel Tarawneh, the panel focused on furthering coordination with the National Centre for Human Rights, as well as local and international stakeholders.
Further joint effort is necessary, the committee concluded, to better the status of human rights in Jordan.
Meanwhile, Tarawneh highlighted ongoing efforts with the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the National Council for Family Affairs as notable milestones in the country’s implementations of previous human rights recommendations.
