Head of Jordan-EU House friendship committee hails outcomes of King’s visit to Russia

AMMAN — The Jordanian-European Parliamentary Friendship Committee on Thursday commended the timing and outcomes of His Majesty King Abdullah visit to Russia.
During a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Jordan Gleb Desyatnikov, MP Khaldoun Hina, head of the committee, expressed appreciation of His Majesty’s efforts, notably the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that covered “the deep-rooted” bilateral relations, as well as the latest regional and international developments. Lauding the “solid” Jordanian-Russian ties, the envoy said that the two leaders’ meeting was “fruitful and distinguished”.
Desyatnikov reiterated his country’s support for partnerships with the Kingdom in the economic, commercial, industrial, cultural and tourism fields, as well as energy and water fields.
He also emphasised the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, expressing Russia’s support for all viable solutions towards reaching an agreement on the Palestinian cause, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
Russia values Jordan’s positions towards enhancing Syria’s security and stability and the region’s, he noted, lauding Amman’s efforts in this arena.
