AMMAN — Four people died and two suffered respiratory distress on Saturday due to inhaling gas from a heater in Jarash. The Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said that personnel from the Civil Defence Department evacuated the deceased to the forensic medicine and transferred the injured to Jarash Public Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The PSD urged citizens to exercise caution while using heaters and recommended regular inspection of gas hoses and proper ventilation of homes. They also advised against leaving heaters on while sleeping. Director of Jerash Public Hospital Sadeq Ottoum said that the cause of death was suffocation due to inhaling smoke emitted by a wood-burning heater.
